Video Backhauling with the TSP120

In today’s complex broadcast work-flow, each active element (receiver, descrambler, multiplexer, etc) modifies the transport stream or video services. Each modification to the transport stream introduces the probability of error. The TSP120 does in-depth TS analysis at the SI/PSI level to verify the metadata and structure of the transport stream. However the best proof of verifying service availability is visually. The TSP120’s Content Streaming™, video back-hauling to any location in the network is a breeze.

The TSP120 can do video back-hauling of a selected service or the entire transport stream. This allows an operator to inspect and audit video services with associated audio channels in full broadcast quality. With scrambled services, the TSP120 can forward the services to an IPTV STB or a descrambler.

The TSP120 has a dedicated Gigabit network connector on-board, dedicated to video back-hauling. This translates into impressive video streaming performance without the overhead of added system processing. Apart from this, the dedicated network port for video back-hauling allows network administrators to put high-bandwidth broadcast-quality video services on their own media network, far from the sensitive management network.

This is just one of the many innovations perfected by Pixelmetrix over ten years of being the leader in the field of preventative monitoring.

Monitoring H.264 services with the TSP120

The TSP120, built on the award-winning DVStation transport stream analysis experience, improves on the class-topping TSP100 with H.264 support.

Features include:

  • H.264 support
The TSP120 supports H.264 (Main Profile) video streams with video thumbnailing, blackout and freeze-frame tests

  • Better Performance
Full-featured TS analysis for transport streams at full ASI line-rate (215 Mbps) with improved accuracy

  • Content streaming
Streaming services (video and audio) on to a dedicated media network, keeping the sensitive management network free of traffic

  • Better trouble-shooting aids
Higher TS capture capacity helps place errors in context better, making troubleshooting much easier

  • IP input capability
IP input capability (coming in the second release) helps transitioning from ASI to IP-centric headends. With native IP input, and back-ward compatibility with the TSP100 interfaces, the TSP120 will protect your investment in monitoring. Simply unplug your TSP100 and replace with a brand-new TSP120
The TSP120, coupled with our class-leading RF monitoring interfaces provides QoS monitoring starting from ingress into, processing within and egress from your head-end.
